NYFW Recap: AMCONYC

Not everyone has heard of AMCONYC but just to give you a little 101, they are platform for emerging designers to showcase or launch their new collections and stimulate industry awareness and brand promotion. This season for New York Fashion Week, AMCONYC was packing with exciting and new FW17 collections by Rack Addik, Ivory Couture Clothing and Emuleos. You can stream the fashion shows for each designer.

Kelly Dempsey of Rack Addik, former contestant on Season 14 of “Project Runway” labeled her collection “Glitter & Grunge”. The collection incorporated a lot of glitter, sparkle with the mixture hard pieces and edgy structuring.  I enjoyed the different fabrics that was used and there was a great play on color and patterns. Kelly stated ,“My collection is an endeavor to take the ‘idgaf’ attitude of grunge and modify it by throwing in a bit of glitz and glam, all while delivering a citified approach”.

Ivory Couture Clothing, based in Los Angeles, CA, and it caters to the modern-day woman who appreciates quality wear that embodies femininity and chicness. The line incorporated well structured separates as well as form-fitting dresses. Speaking about dresses, they had flowing and elegant silhouettes. Opulence was the word to describe this collection with its simple lines and fun color palettes.

Art had graced the runway with this collection. Titled “Outfitting Revolutionary Individuals”, a fusion of fashion, theory and science. Designs that complimented colorful and printed silhouettes in a very artistic way including the inspired architectural shapes on certain garments. Many of the pieces were loose-fitting but exhibited that flow of movement. Emuleos wanted her collection to relay the message that “it isnt just about the clothes but rather how you wear it.”
