Why Did I Start Blogging?

“What made you want become a blogger?”. “When did you start blogging?”. These are the constant questions that arise when people find out I am a blogger. As many times I have gone through my beginning as a blogger, I will tell it once again. Why did I start blogging? Honestly…I felt lost; at lost in the direction of pursing my career. As many don’t know and I rarely have a reason to bring it up, I went to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Marketing and minor in Business Management. (For some reason people get astonished when I tell them that. I don’t know….weird).

Anyways while I was in college, I was still searching and discovering my path in marketing and since marketing is such a vast construction, I stumbled finding my way into what I really wanted to do. When I finally graduated and all, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do in marketing. After college, I diligently started looking for a marketing position. I came across many so-called “marketing” positions, only to find they were direct selling jobs. I did get hired by one and quit within three days. I hated it. It wasn’t for me. As I continued my search, I became discouraged. Where was my life going after college? and I thought to myself “perhaps I should try something completely different. Go in a total different direction. Maybe I should try blogging”. I thought about my passions and interests. I had boiled it down to the two to blog about, video games and fashion. I loved both, weighed out the benefits of the two and fashion ended up becoming my choice to blog about. Mind you… I HATED writing; almost of any sort. I was one of those lazy people who didn’t like to blog about their opinion online unless it was a topic I felt very strongly about. As it came to my surprise, I fell in love with blogging, not just writing about the fashion but the very essence of being able to express yourself in a creative way and watch people appreciate your work.

Statistics say many bloggers within their first year of writing eventually give up because they don’t see progression revolving around their blog and perhaps lack the tools to take it to the next level. But I wasn’t going to allow that to happen to me. As I started to realize my passion, I was determined to keep going, even if things moved at a slow pace and they weren’t where I would like them to be but perseverance was key. I started back in August of 2013 so I’ve been blogging for two years 5 months and I’ve learned a lot on my journey. I even realized after a 1 year of blogging, not only was I a blogger of fashion but of style as well. That’s when I had taken on the label of a (personal) style AND a fashion blogger. I have worked with other bloggers and boy, when you find the ones that have fashion as a common denominator, you instantly become a family. It’s a wonderful feeling when you have that sort of support system. So on that note, this started as a hobby but then I wanted to take it to the next level, business-wise and see where it would and will take me. I am still on this journey among-st others and you know what? The sky’s the limit and that is always something worth working hard for.

I am happy I got to share my story with you and I hope you will share yours with me too! Thank you for reading!
